The will be closed through April to allow for the site’s new concessionaire to make repairs to the site, a spokesman for the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation said.
The driving range, located at 232-01 Northern Blvd. in Douglaston, is operated by the city.
Philip Abramson, a Parks Department spokesman, said the center would be closed in February, March and April.
A new concessionaire for the site will be installing new netting and replacing turf at the driving range, which will reopen later in the spring.
The concessionaire could not be reached for comment.
Community resident Douglas Montgomery said he believed local golfers would be disappointed by the temporary closure.
“That place is packed all the time,” he said. “It’s gonna put a lot of pressure on the one in New Hyde Park.”
Montgomery said the Alley Pond course is primarily used by residents from Douglaston, Bayside, Little Neck and Flushing.
Other local golfing hot spots include the on Marathon Parkway and New Hyde Park’s Spring Rock Golf Center.
