L.I. Troupe to Perform Fairy Tale-Inspired Musical at Queensborough Community College

Plaza Theatricals's January show will include popular characters from classic fairy tales.

A Long Island theater troupe will debut a clue-based production that incorporates popular fairy tales at Queensborough Community College’s performing arts center in early January.

Plaza Theatricals will perform “Blues Clues Live: The Most Spectacular Place” on Jan. 6 and will take part in three other shows throughout the spring.

In the live musical theater show, Steve and his dog, Blue, lead the audience in search of a spectacular place.

During the course of their journey, they meet the Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks, the Big Bad Wolf and other popular characters from classic fairy tales as well take a trip to outer space, where they discover planets.

“My wife, Phyllis, and I are thrilled to be bringing our shows to the beautiful theater at Queensborough Performing Arts Center, where family members can meet and greet the characters following each performance,” Producer Kevin Harrington said.

Plaza Theatricals will also perform several other shows at Queensborough this spring.

On Feb. 10, the troupe will present “Pinkalicious” and, on March 24, they will perform “The Wizard of Oz.”

Their final show of the season will be “Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Pirate Adventure,” which will take place on April 27.

Tickets for individual reserved seating are $12, while subscription tickets are $40.

For groups of 20 or more, discount tickets are available at $10 each.

To purchase tickets, call Plaza Theatricals’s box office at 516-599-6870 or visit plazatheatrical.com.

Queensborough’s performing arts center is located at 222-05 56th Ave. in Bayside.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
