Jazz-Folk Trio Will Play at the Community Church of Douglaston on Nov. 6

'The Edna Project' will perform as part of the Douglaston Concert Series.

The Douglaston Concert Series will host a jazz-folk visual art performance based on the poems of Edna St. Vincent Millay on Nov. 6 at the Community Church of Douglaston.

The concert, which will begin at 4 p.m., is known as “The Edna Project” and it spans a variety of musical genres, including folk, bluegrass, rock and jazz, drawing inspiration from the work of Millay, a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, playwright and feminist.

Music will be performed by Liz Queler, Seth Farber and their son, Joey Farber.

The family has toured with Brady Rymer and the Little Band That Could, a children’s rock group, and was featured on Rosie O’Donnell’s HBO special, “A Family is a Family is a Family.”

“She’s a fine jazz and folk singer and he’s a fine jazz player,” said Gerald Anders, artistic director for the concert series and music director at the church, of Queler and Farber. “This seemed to be an appropriate fit for us. It’s not strictly jazz or folk. It’s an amalgamation, which is appropriate for an American music program.”

Admission for adults is $25, while seniors will pay $20. Students will get in for $5.

The church is located at 37-50 Douglaston Parkway. For more information, visit the church’s website or call 718-229-2169.

There will be free parking for the event.
