Douglaston Village Arts Festival Cancelled

Chairwoman of the event said festival has been postponed, but will resume in fall 2013.

Douglaston residents will now have to wait until next year for another of the community's largest annual events.

In mid-August, announced that . Now, the committee for the Douglaston Village Arts Festival has released a statement saying that the event, which was scheduled for Sept. 23, has been postponed until next year.

"We will continue to look for artists and craftspeople as well as volunteers to help as we go through a reorganization phase," the statement read.

Carol Panagi, chairwoman for the event, said the 2011 festival was a big success for the community and that the committee wanted to grow the event in 2013.

"We want it to be bigger and better and we want to do new things," she said. "It just takes time to put these things together. We want to put on a really nice event that people will remember."

So sad to hear this lovely event will not go forward this year. We are members of the LND Lions club ...we always had a booth there and it was like being in a http://www.funfunky.com/global-celebrtities-f12.htmlsmall town upstate.. With so much joy and conviviality...my husband, Ralph and I would love to help out next year to help make it an event to remember...People are losing sight of the wonderful events inCommunities around the USA that tighten the fiber of our wonderful heritage.Lets get together to make our Community united !!!
