Douglaston residents will now have to wait until next year for another of the community's largest annual events.
In mid-August, announced that . Now, the committee for the Douglaston Village Arts Festival has released a statement saying that the event, which was scheduled for Sept. 23, has been postponed until next year.
"We will continue to look for artists and craftspeople as well as volunteers to help as we go through a reorganization phase," the statement read.
Carol Panagi, chairwoman for the event, said the 2011 festival was a big success for the community and that the committee wanted to grow the event in 2013.
"We want it to be bigger and better and we want to do new things," she said. "It just takes time to put these things together. We want to put on a really nice event that people will remember."
