Best Picture Nominees Playing in Northeast Queens

Find out where you can watch this year's Best Pictures nominees prior to Sunday's Academy Awards show.

The 85th Academy Awards will be held on Feb. 24 and will screen on ABC at 7 p.m. If you haven't made it out to see this year's Best Picture nominees, you still have one more day.

For Best Picture, this year's nominees were "Amour," "Argo," "Beasts of the Southern Wild," "Django Unchained," "Les Miserables," "Life of Pi," "Lincoln," Silver Linings Playbook" and "Zero Dark Thirty."

Currently, AMC Loews Bay Terrace 6 is screening "Silver Linings Playbook" and "Argo."

Douglaston's Movie World is screening "Amour."

And Kew Gardens Cinemas is currently offering "Life of Pi," "Silver Linings Playbook," "Amour" "Argo" and "Les Miserables."

Both "Argo" and "Beasts of the Southern Wild" are currently on DVD.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
