Bebe and Cece Winans to Perform at Colden Auditorium

Gospel duo's concert will be part of Kupferberg Center for the Arts' Black History Month celebration.

Gospel legends Bebe and Cece Winans will perform their only scheduled concert for 2012 at Queens College on Feb. 18 as part of the Kupferberg Center for the Arts’ Black History Month celebration.

Tickets for the concert, which will begin at 8 p.m. at Queens College’s Colden Auditorium, are priced at $44 to $48 and currently on sale.

“The music of Bebe and Cece Winans represents a rich cultural heritage that is alive and well in Queens,” said Vivian Charlop, director of Queensborough Community College’s Kupferberg Center for the Arts. “We are thrilled to present this concert.”

The Winans’ current album, “Still,” is nominated for two Grammy Awards and 11 Stellar Awards. This past fall, they were given their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The duo, which is part of the Detroit-based Winans family gospel group, has been performing since 1982. They have won three Grammy awards and two Soul Train awards.

To order tickets, call the Kupferberg Center Box Office at 718-793-8080 or order online. Discount tickets are available for students and seniors as well as Queens College staff and faculty.

Colden Auditorium is located at 65-30 Kissena Blvd. in Flushing.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
