Bayside Historical Society to Host 11th Annual Celebration of the Arts

Mixed media show will be held Jan. 15 in Fort Totten.

The Bayside Historical Society will host a reception for its 11th annual Celebration of the Arts exhibition and concert on Jan. 15 at Fort Totten.

The work of 40 Queens artists will be on display at the event, during which first, second and third place prizes as well as honorable mentions will be given out.

Attendees will be able to listen to a performance by jazz vocalist Veronica Nunn, pianist Charles Blenzig and bassist Sean Conly during the opening reception, which will begin at 2 p.m.

The event’s judges will include Amy Winter, director of the Godwin-Ternbach Museum at Queens College, and Neill Slaughter, a professor at Long Island University’s C.W. Post campus.

The show’s mixed media artworks will remain on display through Jan. 29.

Light refreshments will be served during the reception, for which there is a suggested donation of $5.

There will be limited parking at the event. To reserve in advance, call 718-352-1548. Additional parking is available at Little Bay Park, which is just outside Fort Totten’s gate.
