Bayside Church to Host Evening of Broadway Tunes

Concert will include songs from five shows, including 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and 'Godspell.'

The Bayside United Methodist Church will host "Broadway Comes to Bell," which will include numbers from five shows, on Nov. 17.

Tickets are on sale for the show, which will act as a fundraiser for the church, located at 38-20 Bell Blvd. Money raised will go toward church operations.

Rev. William Wendler said the show, which is performed by 12 Broadway professionals, previously played the church in April.

"We did it in the spring and it was very successful, the most successful fundraiser we've had in 10 years," Wendler said.

The church's director of music is also a Broadway producer, so he was able for the show to return to the house of worship.

The show will include songs from "Sister Act," "Godspell," "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Children of Eden" and "Nunsense."

The performance, which begins at 7 p.m., costs $20, but children ages 12 years and below get in free.

Free dessert and coffee will follow the show.

To purchase tickets, call 718-229-4024 or drop by the church.
