Whiz Kid: Leora Kaufman

Enjoys ice skating, and acting

Know a great kid who made Eagle Scout or did your local soccer team take the championship? They may be our next Patch Whiz Kids honoree.

Each week, Bayside Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments. We want to hear about these amazing children and teens and select one each week as the Patch Whiz Kid.  Submit your nomination in our comment box below or e-mail the information to Lori.gross@patch,com. Be sure to include all of the information you see below, and a photo. Our next honoree is Leora Kaufman.

  • Name: Leora Kaufman
  • Age: 9
  • School: P.S. 130
  • Accomplishment: The “pony girl” in the Ally Bank commercial
  • Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Leora is a third grader who enjoys almost everything she does. When she was in the Ally Bank commercial in 2009 as the girl who declared “you didn’t say I could have a real [pony]”, she was recognized quite often in public. When Leora is not going on auditions for more commercials, she enjoys karate (she is a brown belt), ice skating (she has taken lessons for five years), and spending time with her two brothers and one sister. Leora also enjoys community theater, and played orphan Kate in Theatre By The Bay’s March production of “Annie.”
