Residents and regulars of the Valerie Arms complex, which dominates the block between 54-40 and 54-44 on Little Neck Parkway, may be wondering what all the forklifts, orange cones and fuss are about, but don't worry: the sidewalk in front of the building is in the process of being replaced, and should be re-opened for walking by Wednesday, said property manager Peter Michaels.
For now though, the sidewalk is closed, meaning pedestrians need to cross to the other side of Little Neck Parkway, or else face a tangle of caution tape and an unstable jaunt through a dirt-filled planter to avoid the construction.
The sidewalk near the professional suites will also be torn up and replaced later this week.
