Week in Review: Airplane Noise Plan Up in Air

It was a busy week for news in northeast Queens.

Elected officials protested a proposed site for a new Bayside school and Patch interviewed City Council candidate Austin Shafran.

Monday

State Sen. Tony Avella, D-Bayside, and state Assemblywoman Nily Rozic, D-Fresh Meadows, held a protest for the proposed site of a new school at the Keil Brothers property in Bayside.

A city firefighter was accused of placing fake 911 calls in order to steal money from firehouses. Reviews in This Week at the Movies included “The Conjuring,” “Only God Forgives” and “R.I.P.D.”

Thursday

Yut Chia, a former Bayside resident who played violin in city subway stations last year, will perform at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall in September.
