To follow is a list of the top-ten companies that are hiring this week, as reported by AOL Jobs.

Some of these companies may surprise you, as they were once rumored as a dying brand. While others are no-brainers. And still others just seem random or altogether unfamiliar.

Nevertheless, with all things held equal in today’s economic climate, this week, these companies reportedly sit at the top of the pile for job openings and opportunity for growth:

#10. Aflac-- The company was named by IDG's Computerworld as one of the "Best Places to Work in Information Technology for 2011." This is the 12th time that Aflac has achieved the distinction of being one of the top 100 organizations in terms of compensation, benefits, training and career development. EMPLOYEE REVIEW: "Great product that provides peace of mind. This is an easy sell if you point out why there is such a need for it. Nice incentives, but the bar is set high."*

 #9.  Sunrise Senior Living—Sunrise assisted living facilities has ranked repeatedly on the Fortune 1000 list, starting in 2005. Washingtonian magazine has also named Sunrise Senior Living as a "Great Place to Work" three times thus far. EMPLOYEE REVIEW: The best part of working at Sunrise is working with the residents, and having great team members around you. Your work feels very rewarding because you are making a difference in people's lives.

#8. PwC—Pricewaterhouse Coopers (now referred to as PwC) maintains one of the world's largest accounting networks, with over 750 offices stretched across roughly 150 countries. As of 2010, this network was maintained by a worldwide staff of over 161,000, so it's not surprising that the company is listed among the so-called Big Four accounting firms, along with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Ernst & Young, and KPMG. EMPLOYEE REVIEW:"The resources PwC offers are the main reason I have stayed. Money is better in industry than in the Big Four, but the experience/speed of advancement cannot be compared to."

#7. Avis— Among this leading car rental agency’s efforts to streamline the car rental process is their iPhone app, which allows customers to make, change or check reservations on the go. The company is also keen on using surveys to solicit feedback. Such surveys led them to be the first company in the industry to offer a completely smoke-free fleet. EMPLOYEE REVIEW: "You do get good health benefits and a company car. Airports are the best places to work in this company."

#6. Aaron’s-- Aaron's is a retailer that sells lease-to-own furniture as well as other household items such as computers, appliances and home electronics. Additionally, the company manufactures furniture, bedding and other accessories. The company started producing its own family outdoors show, known as "'Aaron's Outdoors." EMPLOYEE REVIEW: "You meet some AWESOME people that you start to consider great acquaintances/friends. Rewarded handsomely for your duties."

#5. Sears-- Most people recognize Sears as the department store common to countless shopping malls. While their department stores are certainly popular, Sears Holdings operates several other brands as well. EMPLOYEE REVIEW: "My favorite thing about working with Sears is the stability. The company has been around for over 100 years and is one of the largest in the world. It has great benefits and work-life balance is excellent. I don't have to worry about being on-call on nights and weekends. They have really great quality people who are easy to get along with.

#4. Wells Fargo-- Wells Fargo is the fourth-largest bank in the United States by assets, and the 11th largest company in the U.S. Headquartered in San Francisco, they employ nearly 300,000 and have over 70 million customers nationwide. EMPLOYEE REVIEW: "Large company with a lot of training, encouraged to change positions/departments within bank to grow and learn; good senior management and diversity commitment."

#3. AT&T Retail-- At&T is now one of three major wireless carriers, alongside Verizon and Sprint, to feature Apple's new iPhone 4S. Recent reports indicate that AT&T's wireless revenue has grown by over 4 percent versus last year. EMPLOYEE REVIEW: "They provide great benefits and pay. I know they match quite a bit for 401(k) investment. It is a great job for someone interested in technology and learning about new technologies. Also, it is great to know that you are helping others out on a daily basis."

#2. Snap-On Tools-- Founded in 1920, Snap-On designs, manufactures and markets professional-grade tools in the United States. They operate on a franchise model, with dealer vans that function as mobile showrooms. This sales and marketing method has proven successful, and is the basis for the company's entire business model. EMPLOYEE REVIEW: "Progressive environment, clear strategic business objectives and communications, clear mission. Vision values communications. Company going through changes for the better."

#1.  Macy’s-- Originally founded as Federated Department Stores in 1929, the company was officially renamed Macy's in 2007. With over 800 stores across the nation, Macy's is one of the largest retail companies in the United States. Macy's sales rose throughout 2010 and it already has announced plans to hire 3,500 employees in the next two years. EMPLOYEE REVIEW: "The management is competent. Employees are given a good discount and still able to use coupons. You can pick up more hours online when they become available."
