Families seeking ghoulish fun this Halloween season have a wide choice of events celebrating the scary holiday, some even taking place all month long. Below is a list of choices, so get your costumes ready!

Bronx Zoo: Boo at the Zoo is an annual month-long weekend tradition. The list of activities—some scary, some just plain fun—is long every weekend in October as the Bronx Zoo celebrates Halloween with a Haunted Safari, costume parades, hay rides and mazes, live music, magic shows and more. Kids in costume get in free with a full-priced adult general admission ticket ($16.) Dates are Oct. 1-2, 8-10, 15-16, 22-23 and 29-30.
Visit bronxzoo.com or call 718-220-5100.

Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Flushing: Explore a haunted house and join in the fun of Halloween crafts, music, games, ghost stories and a pumpkin patch at the FREE Spooktacular in the Al Oerter Recreation Center.

For those who are slightly more brave, Haunted Lanterns Tours of Fort Totten offer a glimpse into history as Urban Park Rangers take you on a lantern tour of the historic Water Battery at Fort Totten. Halloween Festival takes place on Saturday, Oct. 22: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Haunted Lantern Tours take place Friday, Oct. 28 and Sat. Oct. 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

New York Botanical Garden, Bronx: It’s a Spooky Nighttime Adventure when visitors are invited to bring their flashlights to explore the festive sculptures of the Adventure Garden. Their reward for
bravery is the chance to trick or treat along the paths and decorate a pumpkin to take home. Dates are Saturday Oct. 22 and Oct. 29 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Daytime spooks take place in the Adventure Garden with the Haunted Pumpkin Garden Tuesdays through Fridays 1:30 to 5:30 pm and Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 1-30. See hundreds of carved pumpkins sculpted into scarecrows, snakes, spiders, and more and enjoy hands-on activities and Halloween Parades.
