Street Talk: Favorite Holiday Traditions
Even in a world filled with change, northeast Queens residents still look to family around the holidays
The faces of Little Neck may be , but one thing remains the same: residents still prefer celebrating holiday traditions surrounded by loved ones.
"Getting together with friends and family," said Patricia Kaslow, a longtime Little Neck resident. "That's my most cherished holiday tradition."
But to Barbara Melhman of Great Neck, celebrating the holiday's with family also goes hand-in-hand with eating homemade holiday snacks.

"Hot potato Latkes on Hanukkah ... that's my favorite," Melhman said.
And Melhman wasn't the only one who celebrates the food of the holiday season almost as much as being with friends and family.

Every year, Jerry Zidel observes the feast of La Vigilia.
"Being from a big Italian family, we get together and dish on fish for Christmas Eve," Zidel said, adding, "Bakala is my favorite."
One thing is certain, no matter what holiday you celebrate, this time of year is all about getting together with the one's you love.
"I have family coming up from Guatemala," said Kevin DeLeone, a new resident of Little Neck. "It will be nice to see them all again."
