Snow Day for All

A neighborhood spirit prevails

Is there a child out there that does not like playing in the snow?

I saw neighbors helping other neighbors dig and push their cars out of their spots. I watched kids building snowmen and making snow angels.

We shook our heads at the mountains of snow in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center and the police car stuck in the middle of 212th street in front of P.S. 169.

We stood in line at Waldbaum's to get whatever food we could find.

Time stood still on Sunday and Monday and by Tuesday we were ready for our normal routines.

Not the kids though, they donned their gloves, hats and scarves for more snow fun and that's the way it will stay until it all melts. Then it's back to hibernation, and my kids telling me it is way too cold to walk to the shopping center.
