Santa to Greet Children at JFK Airport on Dec. 11

Attendees will meet Santa, eat snacks and receive toys.

Santa Claus will drop by JFK International Airport on Wednesday for an event during which thousands of physically and mentally handicapped children will be able to meet with the jolly old elf.

The event, which begins at 11 a.m. at the airport's Hanger 19, is hosted by state Sen. Tony Avella, D-Bayside, and The Community Mayors, a nonprofit, as part of the annual Operation Santa Claus.

More than 4,000 physically and mentally handicapped children take part in the event each year.

Attendees will be served snacks and refreshments, receive toys and watch Santa Claus arrive on a Delta Air Lines shuttle

The Community Mayors, which was founded in 1875 and reincorporated in 1957, focuses on special needs children and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all children with disabilities.
