Samuel Field Y to Host Chanukah Festival on Dec. 8

Event will include games, arts and crafts, latkes and a commemoration of the March on Washington.

The Samuel Field Y will host a Chanukah festival for northeast Queens residents in early December.

The Family Fun Freedom Festival will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Y, located at 58-20 Little Neck Parkway, on Dec. 8.

The event will include lights, latkes and a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, during which Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his historic “I Have a Dream” speech.

The festival will include gym games, arts and crafts, jewelry for sale, give-aways sing-a-longs and performances by Early Childhood students, after school programs and seniors.

An obstacle course will run from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Participants should wear sneakers.

An open house will be held for the Y’s summer camp and Early Childhood programs.

Snacks will include donuts, drinks and latkes.

The event is free, but attendees are asked to contribute a non-perishable food item to help local families in need.
