Samuel Field, Cross Island Ys to Hold Fall Family Festivals

Local Y festivals will include food, games and open houses for programs.

Both the Samuel Field Y and the Cross Island YMCA will host fall family festivals this month that include food, games for children and open houses for the sites’ programs.

The Samuel Field Y, located at 58-20 Little Neck Parkway, will hold its festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 6.

It will include arts and crafts, games for children, carnival rides, food and refreshments for sale and open houses for the Y’s summer camp and early childhood programs.

Admission is free for those who bring fresh produce, such as apples, oranges, potatoes and carrots, which will be packaged and delivered to community members in need.

The Cross Island YMCA, located at 238-10 Hillside Ave. in Bellerose, will operate its festival on Oct. 12.

The event will include a vendor fair, open house for Y programs, a five-mile fun run, auction, food, rides, raffles and giveaways.

All proceeds from the event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., will benefit the Y’s Strong Kids Campaign.
