Romantic Plans For After Valentine's Day

Some great date ideas to bring up during dinner on Valentine's Day.

New couples and early relationships know about newness; the excitement of seeing through another person’s perspective, new experiences, someone new excited about the things you love. During the early stages of a relationship, there is always something new and unique. Keeping things fresh is a great way to sustain newness at any point in a relationship. Here are some low-cost, local activities for you and your partner to discover.

Sur La Table Cooking Classes: Each month, Sur La Table in Manhasset offers Date Night cooking classes, designed to seductively stir up chemistry between you and your partner. Classes range between 2-2 ½ hours each, and feature hands on meal preparation with an experienced chef.

Upcoming classes for March include Chef’s Table and Cucina Sicilia. With Chef’s Table, part of the menu includes Cabernet Risotto with Wild Mushrooms, Pepper-Seared Tuna with Aged Balsamic, and Chocolate Goat Cheese Truffles. The Cucina Sicilia menu includes several Italian dishes including Eggplant-Zucchini Caponata with Grilled Swordfish, and Homemade Cannoli with Vanilla Ricotta Cream and Marsala-Orange Syrup.

NYC Scavenger Hunt: Half scavenger hunt, half tour of the city, Strayboots.com takes you on a two to four hour adventure through Manhattan. Clues are text messaged to your phone and lead to both well known landmarks and secluded hideaways.

Hiking: Cold Spring Harbor State park offers forty acres of wooded, hilly terrain with beautiful views of Cold Spring Harbor. The site has a parking lot right on Main Street and is a quick walk to local restaurants and shops in Cold Spring Harbor’s historic district. The trails are clearly marked and well cared for, offering visitors unique sights year round.

Oak trees mingled with red- tailed hawks, owls, and wild mountain laurel make for great scenery. The trail is great for beginners and intermediates alike, and promises to boost your heart rate while you take in special moments with your trail companion. If you’re looking for something closer to home, or less strenuous, try Alley Pond Park or . Both offer great scenery and semi-paved trails.
