Queens Bird Club to Hold Second Annual Winter Film Festival on Jan. 15

Group will screen episodes of TV show "Birding Adventures" at Douglaston's APEC.

The Queens County Bird Club will screen several episodes of a popular bird watching show during an event this month in Douglaston.

The club will meet at 8 p.m. on Jan. 15 at Alley Pond Environmental Center, located at 228-06 Northern Blvd., to watch episodes of "Birding Adventures," which stars James Currie.

Mary Normandia, the club's vice president, said the complete series was recently donated to the club and that January's event will act as the group's second annual winter film festival.

She said the screening would allow attendees to "explore exotic birding destinations and amazing cultures and realize the importance of preserving the planet's birdlife.

The event is free of charge and light refreshments, including hot cocoa, will be served.
