Douglaston center holds first-ever astronomy event.
Alley Pond Environmental Center held its first-ever moon festival this past weekend in Douglaston.
The event included a discussion on astronomy, crafts and viewing the moon through a telescope.
Irene Scheid, APEC's executive director, said the event was based on a traditional Asian festival that is typically held around this time of year when the moon is full.
