Patch Asks: What If You Were Dictator?

We're curious to know...

Whether it's a political problem or a social one, everyone has something they'd like to be changed.

If you had ultimate power, what's the first law you'd put on the books?

I would outlaw pop music and maybe mandate that food didn't have calories on the weekend.

Delete Lori Gross 12:43pm on Thursday, September 15, 2011 I don't know about the pop music, Pat, but I'm with you on the second part! I'd make it a ticketable offense to sneeze, cough or otherwise expel germs without covering your mouth in confined public places spaces, like the bus or subway.

Agreed! Who are these people not covering their mouths? As an add on to my initial mandates, I'd introduce the McMillan Stimulus Plan—named for Rent's Too Damn High Candidate James 'Jimmy' McMillan who proposed the idea when he ran for mayor—that would invalidate all parking tickets (undecided about moving violations) and put the money back in the pockets of the people who earned it.

Before I put new laws down, I would enforce the old ones that should be enforced but aren't. Like panhandling on the subway.
