Each week, our Parents Council of experts takes your questions, gives advice and shares solutions.
Moms, dads, grandparents and the diverse families who make up our community will have a new resource for questions about local neighborhood schools, the best pediatricians, 24-hour pharmacies and the thousands of other issues that arise while raising children.
This week’s question is:
What are some places for children and youths to begin volunteering in their communities?
Judy Vincent:
If she were interested, I'd see if my daughter could volunteer in a nursing home, hospital (pediatrics ward), St. Mary's Children's Hospital in Bayside or maybe even an animal shelter. Also, my daughter was in an acting workshop, and there were teenage girls volunteering to help there.
I was a volunteer at Flushing Hospital when I was 15 years old and loved it.
