It's Martin Luther King Day, Bayside. Here are five things happening this holiday:

1. Alternate Side Parking is suspended. You still have to pay the meter though.

2. Public schools and school offices will be closed.

3. Sen. Tony Avella got Facebook to boot a convicted who was had been volunteering at St. Mel's after he allegedly contacted a minor on the social network. 

4. A man who allegedly made 40 calls “of a " to Rep. Gary Ackerman's office, and also threatened law enforcement, was arrested last week, and sent to the psych ward for evaluation.

5. NYC Schools Chancellor Cathie Black is reportedly catching some heat for making the gag that parents of kids in overcrowded downtown schools "just have some birth control for a while" to help her office out.
