Local Street Re-named For 9/11 Hero

Lt. Peter J. Farrenkopf lived on the street that was named in his honor.

Councilman Dan Halloran unveiled the sign for 9/11 hero Lt. Peter J. Farrenkopf Place, 207th Street at 26th Avenue.  Lt. Farrenkopf, of FDNY Marine Company died in 2009 of a respiratory infection he received at Ground Zero after 9/11.

Meanwhile Obama honors the man who caused this man's death on 9/11 with a portrait in the White House.

in my opinion. Many years from now. anyone looking up at the name at the street sign "Lt. Peter J. Farrenkopf" will have no clue if Mr. Farrenkopf was an NYPD Lieutenant or an FDNY Lieutenant who was murdered by Islamic extremest on 9/11/01. Although I am happy to see our city honor the memory of one of its heros. It behooves me that the NYC DOT (and I've been complaining about this in published letters to the local media for over a decade) will not add or refuse to add the NYPD or in this case the FDNY emblem/logo and the date 9/11/01 to the left and right corner of "Place" on the street sign etc. What bothers me is for a price $$$ the NYC DOT will put a logo on a replica street sign for the general public for private use etc. Perhaps Councilman Dan Halloran might propose this to the members of the city Council. This needs to be changed.

In my opinion, this an insult to the memory to those who died because of 9/11. In my opinion, this is nothing more than a half-ass job to pay tribute to honor our fallen heroes. This needs to be changed.
