The Attic Brings Live Music to the Neighborhood, Douglaston Club Hosts Birthday Party

Things were jumping in Douglaston last weekend as a popular Celtic rock band took the stage at The Attic Lounge and neighborhood denizens held a 40th birthday bash for a community resident at the Douglaston Club.

Locals flocked to the cozy watering hole, located at 44-25 Douglaston Parkway to hear The Rogues rock the house on Saturday.

Mia Kang, The Attic's manager, said the lounge will make music a regular weekend happening. Live performances will resume immediately after the holidays.

"We'll have more live music next month," Kang said. "In the meantime, we have specials for Monday night football."

For those not interested in the three large flat-panel TVs, the lounge also has a dartboard, coin-operated pool table, electronic games and Internet-connected jukebox, Kang said. Its backyard patio remains open, regardless of whether it is buried under snow or ice.

Meanwhile, members of the Douglaston Club packed the private club's third floor ballroom to celebrate local personality Brian Kiernan's 40th birthday. The event was organized by his bride, Theresa, with a little help from her friends.

The couple takes part in the planning of the Little Neck-Douglaston Memorial Day Parade, which is one of the neighborhood's most revered traditions.
