Update, 10:17 a.m.: Staten Island Advance reports that Charles G. Hogg, otherwise known as "Groundhog Chuck," did not see his shadow when hoisted out of his burrow, signifying an early end to spring.
Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil, who also did not see a shadow, concurred with Chuck's prognostication.
