Great Escape: Set Sail

Enjoy an Unforgettable Day on the Water at Little Neck Bay

Ahoy readers!

Looking to sail off into the sunset on one of these warm spring nights? If so, then head down to Bayside Marina and set sail on a northeast Queens nautical adventure.

The marina, located at 28-05 Cross Island Parkway on Little Neck Bay, is the perfect place to enjoy a day out on the water. After being destroyed by a severe storm in 1992, the marina was rebuilt by its original owners, Matty Castellano and Kenneth Schubline, to the venue it is today.

Several annual events now take place at the marina, including the Bayside Angler’s Snapper Derby,  which is an instructional fishing session for local children that is sponsored by the city’s Park Rangers, and a boat tour held by Alley Pond Environmental Center.

Boat and rod rentals are available to visitors. If you rent a 16-foot, six horsepower Carolina Skiff - with all gas and safety equipment included - at $35 for an hour, you will only pay $15 for each additional half-hour.

Fishing pole rentals are also available for $10 per day. And you can pick up bait at the marina's fully stocked shop, which is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

The marina also has mooring rentals at $80 per foot for those needing a place to store their boats. Kayak storage is also available between May 1 and Oct. 31 for $400 or between Nov. 1 and April 30 for $200.

If you work up an appetite, the marina's fully renovated snack bar serves up hamburgers, hot dogs, French friends and beverages.

So, hop on board and enjoy a day out on Little Neck Bay. For more information, contact the Bayside Marina at 718-229-0097.
