Great Escape: Queens County Farm Museum

Museum to host New York's largest annual pow wow this weekend.

Borough residents in need of a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city should head to the Queens County Farm Museum this weekend for a day of fun and relaxation in a tranquil agrarian environment.

The museum is home to New York City’s largest remaining tract of undisturbed farmland and is the only one of its kind operating in the five boroughs. Established in 1697, the farm is the longest continuously farmed site in the state.

The 47-acre parcel of land includes historic farm buildings, a greenhouse complex, livestock, farm vehicles and implements, planting fields, an orchard and a garden, where visitors can hand select all natural organic herbs grown on the farm.

In addition to all of its natural beauty, the farm also hosts events throughout the summer that feature local music, entertainment and refreshments.

This weekend, the museum is hosting the 33rd Annual Thunderbird American Indian Mid-Summer Pow Wow.

Adult admission is $10, while children ages 12 and below will pay $5. All-weekend passes are $15 for adults and $7 for children.

The museum is located at 73-50 Little Neck Parkway.
