Great Escape

Head over to the Queens County Farm Museum for some family fun.

Fall is officially in full swing and Halloween is just a few weeks away, making this the perfect time to enjoy all the festivities offered at the Queens County Farm Museum.

For the entire month of October, attendees can participate in all the activities offered at the farm museum, including the large pumpkin patch, apple picking festival, Halloween haunted house, fall festival and “The Amazing Maize Maze,” which is the largest corn maze in the county.

Each weekend through the end of the month, families can get lost in the farm's three-acre interactive maze. The adventure begins with a stalk walk to prepare for the challenge of finding clues, solving puzzles and making your way out of the maze.

This Saturday night is the last chance to experience the Maze By Moonlight, an event during which the maze will be open until 9 p.m. with just enough lighting to make the adventure a bit more challenging.

On Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can wander through the farm's planting fields to find the perfect pumpkin.

With tons of shapes and sizes from which to choose, the pumpkin patch is a perfect opportunity for kids and adults alike to take photos and hand pick their own pumpkins. The price of pumpkins is based on the size and weight.

On Oct. 30, bring the kids down to celebrate the fall festival. Youngsters are invited to wear their costumes and visit the farm museum's haunted house. With admission, families will be able to take part in sack races, trinkets-in-the-haystack, bounce houses, pig racing, pony rides, petting zoos, hay rides, animal feeding and crafts.

Attendees are encouraged to stick around and dance to the live country western music.

Admission to the Queens County Farm Museum is $9 for adults, while children ages 4-11 get in for $5. Group rates are available for parties of 10 or more. The corn maze, haunted house and fall festival admission prices can be found on the farm's website.

The farm museum is located at 73-50 Little Neck Parkway in Floral Park.
