Great Escape

Celebrate the sixth annual New York Book Fair Expo at the Queens Museum of Art.

This weekend, the borough will celebrate the richness and diversity of the city's numerous languages at the Sixth New York Book Fair Expo, which is being held at the Queens Museum of Art.

The book fair is expected to present the works of 100 local authors of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds under one roof.

This year, the expo will feature Latino authors from Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and Venezuela.

The fair's academic and cultural program will present music, theater, literary readings and book signings by the showcasing authors.

Gerardo Pina-Rosales, director of the North American Academy of Spanish Languages, is a featured speaker. There will also be panel discussions, readings, workshops, open mike sessions, multi-cultural music and dance performances as well as a variety of merchandise and book vendors.

The fair, which was established in 2005, is designed to promote literacy in the five boroughs. It is also an opportunity for local authors to encourage younger writers and engage with the community.

The Sixth Annual New York Book Fair Expo will be held on Oct. 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Queens Museum of Art, which is located in the New York City Building in Flushing Meadow Corona Park. For more information, please call 718-592-9700.
