Great Escape: Destination Dance Studios

When you take lessons at Destination Dance Studios, you not only learn ballroom or Latin dancing, you become a part of its extended community. Simply put by owner David Boyce: “We want people to dance more.”

Within the studio located on Northern Boulevard, one block east of the Clearview Expressway, you escape into the world of dancing, the romantic way. You can choose private or group lessons, and learn Ballroom, Latin, Tango, West Coast Swing, Hustle and the biggest thing now, Salsa, according to Boyce.

Dancers range in age from 20 to 88, and include singles and couples. “We do a lot of wedding work (people getting ready for their weddings),” says Boyce. “Some are getting ready for cruises and vacations. We have singles looking to meet new people. We have a hodge-podge of adult activities and lessons.”

Beyond lessons, Destination Dance Studios has performing showcases, where students get to dance with their teachers and do solo performances, and they get a great dinner too. “It’s like a wedding,” says Boyce. The next showcase is slated for July 15 at Verdi’s in Westbury.

The school also throws parties in the studio for clients, and invites them to travel to participate in parties with other schools. It also takes students to places where ballroom dancing is held.
