Why Go: This outdoor event will have the family up and about, gazing at the starry sky. Urban Park Rangers will help you make sense of all that you see.

• 24th Annual Historic Holiday House Tour
Where/When: Kingsland Homestead, among other houses. On Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: You'll get tours of 6 historical sites in Flushing, while being transported via trolley to each.
Pricing: $12, kids 12 and younger are free.
Where/When: Alley Pond Environmental Center. On Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Why Go: This kids only activity, for 7 to 12 year olds (limited to 8), will not only have them making take-home crafts, but will get them in the fresh outdoors as well . . . all while you get to go and run an errand.
Pricing: APEC members, $18; Nonmembers, $24
• MetLife Second Sundays for Families: Take a Trip to the Philippines
Where/When: Queens Museum of Art, in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. On Sunday, between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Why Go: To broaden your horizons this holiday season with a number of workshops surrounding Filipino culture and holiday traditions. Singing and refreshments are also involved.
Pricing: Admission is by suggested donation. Adults, $5; Seniors and Children, $2.50; Members and Children under 5, free.
• Holiday Music Concert with the Haiyun Chorus
Where/When: Flushing Public Library. On Saturday, at 2 p.m.
Why Go: The family will get another culturally themed holiday celebration. This one is in the form of a performance that features Chinese musical instruments, vocalists singing folk songs, and folk dancers.
