Here is another edition of Bayside Patch's Grab & Go Kids Planner, the perfect guide to events and activities for your family.

Check out upcoming events, geared toward kids and families that take place this weekend in Bayside and surrounding areas.

Here is a festival, Family Fun Day, bazaar, concert and brunch.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK



Where/When: Queens Museum of Art, inside Flushing Meadows Corona Park. On Friday, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Why Go: Guests will not only see a short film, Hosay Trinidad, but get a musical demonstration, as well as a talk from an author on this traditional street theatre form from India and the Caribbean.

Pricing: Free

 


Where/When: Fort Totten Park, on Saturday, from noon to 3:00 p.m.

Why Go: This free Family Fun Day features activities, games and arts & crafts for kids, along with a few things for the adults too!

Pricing: Free

 


Where/When: 66-05 79 Place. On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Why Go: There'll be plenty of rides, games and food for kids, as well as adults. The bazaar will also feature a bouncey house and games that the really young ones will enjoy and can win!

Pricing: Free to attend. Food, ride and game prices vary.

 


Where/When:  Flushing Public Library, 41-17 Main Street. On Saturday, at 2:00 p.m.

Why Go: Attendees will be enlightened by the not only classical sounds of the flute and piano, but by familiar Broadway pieces as well.

Pricing: Free

 

Sunday Brunch

Where/When: , on Sunday.

Why Go: Because kids, under 12, will eat for free, with every purchase of an adult entree.

Pricing: $14.95 to $16.95

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
