New York Hospital Queens Cardiac Health Center - 174-03 Horace Harding Expressway, Fresh Meadows
April 21, 4:30 p.m.
New York Hospital Queens is offering a 12-week nutrition and exercise program during which children and teens will take part in various exercises and learn about healthy eating habits. The group will meet three times each week at 4:30 p.m. at the hospital's cardiac health center.
New sessions begin weekly and are open to any children and teens in need of nutritional and fitness guidance. Contact Alisha Rappaport at 718-661-7687 to register.
Animal Trainee Program
Alley Pond Environmental Center - 228-06 Northern Blvd., Douglaston
April 23, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Ages 9-12
Fee: $18 members, $23 non members
If your child is an animal lover, this program is sure to make them happy. Alley Pond Environmental Center instructs children on the duties of being an animal caretaker. Attendees will receive hands-on experience in feeding, brushing, cleaning and learning animals who call the center home. Visitors will receive snacks and earn animal care certificates. Limited to eight participants. Registration required.
Barnyard Easter Egg Hunt
Queens County Farm Museum - 73-50 Little Neck Parkway
April 23, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Fee: $5 per person
The farm museum is holding its annual Easter egg hunt in the orchard. Children will be able to meet and take pictures with Whiskers the bunny or take part in an egg toss on the farmhouse lawn. Hayrides will be available.
Spring Eggstravaganza
Queens Zoo - 53-51 111th St. in Flushing Meadows Corona Park
April 23, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Bring your kids to the zoo for a day of spring fun. Children can hunt for eggs as well as meet the Easter Bunny and the zoo’s very own Flemish giant rabbit, Herman, who weights nearly 20 pounds, and enjoy several spring-themed activities, arts and crafts.
Russian National Ballet: Sleeping Beauty
Queensborough Community College - 222-05 56th Ave., Bayside
April 23, 8 p.m.
Fee: $42 per adult, $32 for kids.
Dancers from the Russian National Ballet will perform the Disney classic "Sleepy Beauty." The show will feature elaborate props and scenery as well as classical music by Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky.
