Alley Pond Environmental Center
April 9, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Fee: Members $18, Non-Members $23
Is your child interested in science and between the ages of eight and 12 years? If so, head down to Alley Pond for a day of environmental experimentation and fun. Learn about the environment through studies and tests using some simple household supplies. A snack is included. Limited to eight participants.
Egg-Citing Animals
Alley Pond Environmental Center
April 9, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Fee: Members $12, Non-Members $16
Children, ages three and four, will learn about animal babies as they investigate different shapes, sizes and colors of eggs hatched by Alley Pond's animals. The day's activities will include story time, games, live animals, a nature walk and an exploration of unusual eggs. Snacks are also provided. Children participating must be toilet trained. Limited to 10 children.
Curious George Visits Bayside Storytime
Barnes & Noble - Bay Terrace, 23-80 Bell Blvd., Bayside
April 9, 11 a.m.
Let your kids go bananas at storytime this Saturday. Barnes & Noble staff will read stories about the exciting adventures of the curious little monkey George and the Man with the Yellow Hat.
Planting Trees in Forest Hills
MacDonald Park - 70th Road between Yellowstone Boulevard and Queens Boulevard
April 9, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
JetBlue and the New York Restoration Project are teaming up for the annual One Thing That’s Green event, during which attendees will help plant hundreds of trees in Forest Hills.
“Trees are a vital part of the environment, especially in New York City, and by recommendation of the City of New York, JetBlue and NYRP will partner to revitalize MacDonald Park and surrounding areas,” according to a statement on the initiative on JetBlue's website. Breakfast and lunch will be provided and all volunteers will receive a One Thing That’s Green branded T-shirt.
All volunteers must register and complete a waiver. Young adults, ages 14 to 17 years, must have a signed waiver from a parent or guardian to participate. Attendees younger than 14 years are welcome to participate with an adult.

Sing-a-Long Series at Queensborough Performing Arts Center

Fee: $5 per person
