Bed-Stuy's Slave Theater Could See Performances Again

New Brooklyn Theater, the group seeking to restore performances to Slave Theater in Bed-Stuy, said they were in negotiations to help that happen over the next few months.

In a letter posted on the theater's Facebook page Sunday, artistic director Jonathan Solari said the group was poised to make some big announcements in the coming months.

While the promises were ultimately vague, the letter promised Bed-Stuy residents that the neighborhood theater would once again be a venue for local performances rather than a condo development.

Sweet Adele's Reopens on Bell Boulevard

Northeast Queens residents with a sweet tooth have cause for celebration following the recent reopening of Sweet Adele's on Bell Boulevard.

The shop, located at 73-24 Bell Blvd. in Bayside, serves candy, home-baked goods, ice cream and bubble tea.

Queens Community House to Operate New Transfer School

Forest Hills’ Queens Community House has been selected by the city’s Department of Education to be a locally based organization partner for a new borough transfer high school.

The school, VOYAGES South, will open in September at Springfield Gardens’ August Martin High School campus, located at 156-10 Baisley Blvd., and serve approximately 150 students.

Central Queens Y Nominated for Best of the Boro

The Central Queens Y has been nominated in a local newspaper’s competition for two programs it offers to Forest Hills residents.

The Y, located at 67-09 108th St., received nods in two categories in the Queens Courier’s Best of the Boro awards, including Best Afterschool Program and Best Camp.
