Why Go: The screening of this documentary on Alice Austen will be accompanied by a historical discussion with members of the Douglaston Little Neck Historical Society.

Where/When: Queens County Farm Museum. On Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Guests will see antique automobiles in tip top condition. Many of the owners are members of the New York Antique Auto Club.

Pricing:  Adults $5, Kids ages four and below $2

Where/When: , 202-12 Willets Point Boulevard. On Friday at noon and 6:30p.m.

Why Go: This fun sporting event is for a great cause as all proceeds go to medical expenses for Ashtyn Brooke Montali, who is suffering from cerebral palsy.

Pricing: Donations and contributions accepted at event as well as on this website.

Where/When: Queens Botanical Garden, 43-50 Main Street. On Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Why Go: Attendees will enjoy a market of organic vegetables as well as demonstrations on how to plant your own greens.

Pricing: General admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students or children.

Where/When: . On Thursday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Watch this year's draft picks with $10 pitchers of beer and the chance to win one whole hour of open bar for yourself and your top 10 pick of friends.

Pricing: Free to enter, while food and drink prices vary.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
