Get Out: Top Queens Shore Fests

Enjoy a great weekend with these fun ideas all near your neighborhood.

Who needs to envy the stars of the Jersey Shore? This weekend, we have plenty of situations along our own coastline. Head out to The Third Annual Astoria Park Shore Fest and start fist pumping to live music. Or, get a tan in Little Neck Bay while you learn about the Civil War battles of Fort Totten.
Then, discover the best-kept summer secret during happy hour on the newly open rooftop bar of Il Bacco restaurant. It’s top-notch view that won’t disappoint when you toast to a romantic evening. Salute!

 
Where/When: Alley Pond Park, 76th Avenue and Springfield Boulevard, Oakland Gardens, on Friday at 7 p.m.
Why Go: Those rock and roll days are back again. Enjoy this family-style rock concert with music from the ‘50s and ‘60s the way it was meant to be: outdoors. Bring a chair, or a blanket, and make it a picnic for all.
Pricing: Event is free.

 
Where/When: Il Bacco Ristorante Italiano, 253-24 Northern Boulevard, Little Neck, on Friday starting at 5 p.m.
Why Go: Step out onto the new open rooftop for a breathtaking view of your neighborhood or simply soak up the fabulous atmosphere while sipping on a cocktail. The DJ begins spinning at 8 p.m.

The Third Annual Astoria Park Shore Fest 
Where/When: Astoria Park, along Shore Boulevard, Astoria, on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Why Go: This year, the “Astoria Water Walk” festival has returned with a new name and offers more live music, fitness programs and restaurant tastings than ever before. It’s a chance to walk on the waterfront promenade without cars.
Pricing: Event is free.

 
Where/When: Fort Totten, Weaver Road and Jarman Road, Bayside, on Sunday at 10 a.m.
Why Go: School is out but the history lessons continue at Fort Totten Park. Find out what important military battles took place along Little Neck Bay.
Pricing: Event is free.

Where/When: Monsignor McClancy Memorial H.S., 71-06 31st Ave., East Elmhurst, on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Why Go: Help raise awareness about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) while you have some family fun. This festival will have games, free health screenings, and a chance to learn CPR.
