Enjoy a great weekend with these fun activities all near your neighborhood.
Are you ready for Oktoberfest? We’re taking the German tradition to the next level with a few local parties you won’t want to miss. Breakout your best lederhosen at Koenig's restaurant and enter a beer-drinking contest for charity. Or, head out to Monahan & Fitzgerald to feast on the Wiener schnitzel and then dance the night away.
Meanwhile, a fierce fall fashion student competition will temporarily takeover at the Roosevelt Field Mall. Catch a glimpse of the amateur couture as it debuts on the runway. This weekend, we have all your entertainment on tap. Bottoms up!
Where/When: Koenig’s restaurant, 86 S. Tyson Ave., Floral Park, on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Enter a beer-drinking contest and sing-a-long to oompah music for a good cause. The evening will benefit the Harboring Hearts mission, which gives families and loved ones temporary housing during their time of need. Regular Oktoberfest takes place every Thursday through Saturday with a prix-fixe dinner.

Where/When: Monahan & Fitzgerald, 214-17 41st Ave., Bayside, daily from 4 p.m. until 11 p.m.
Why Go: It’s another round of Oktoberfest with a menu that includes Wiener schnitzel, braised red cabbage and plenty of beer on tap. The dance floor gets busy on the weekends with DJ Brian spinning the latest top 40 hits.

Where/When: The Roosevelt Field Mall, 630 Old Country Road, Garden City, on Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m.
Why Go: Nassau Community College students will show off their couture creations at the mall’s runway fashion show. They’ll transform a chosen Long Island woman into a celebrity look-a-like with style. Stay for additional shopping events and giveaways.

Where/When: Nassau Community College in the Humanities Theatre, 1 Education Drive, Garden City, on Friday at 7 p.m. or Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.
Why Go: The Peanuts gang are even more heartwarming on stage. Adults will get nostalgic watching Charlie Brown and his endearing character friends. Kids will simply enjoy cheering for the underdog.
Pricing: Tickets are $9; children 12 and under $6
Where/When: The Parsonage of the Community Church of Douglaston, 39-50 Douglaston Parkway, Douglaston, on Saturday from 2:30 until 5 p.m.
Why Go: Step back in time and tour the church’s old parsonage after being restored to its former glory. You’ll also get a peek at the church sanctuary and the Leonhardt chapel. Even the organ has undergone a makeover. You’ll do a double-take at all the changes. Snacks will be served.
