1. 18th Century Tavern Nights

Where/When: Queens County Farm Museum. On Friday or Saturday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Why Go: The food, decor, and even tableware will having you feeling like you've stepped back in time.

Pricing: $85

2. Happy Hour

Where/When: Plum Restaurant. On Friday, beginning at 4 p.m.

Why Go: Because you just need to know if a Plum-Gasm lives up to its name.

Pricing: Cocktails are $5, beers are $3

3. Football Game Ticket

Where/When: Bourbon Street. On Saturday and Sunday afternoon, during game times.

Why Go: Not only will you get a raffle ticket for an upcoming Giants or Jets game (when you buy a Bud, Bud Light, Stella or Bass), but you'll enjoy specials like 20 cent wings, a free shot when a New York team makes a touchdown and the option of a $25 beer tube with an appetizer, all while watching the game!

4. Il Bacco Ristorante Italiano

Where/When: At 253-24 Northern Boulevard. On Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Why Go: Whether you're going for lunch or dinner, the menu will have you feeling live you've had a warm taste of Italy, during this cold November.

Pricing: Entrees range from $20.95 to $35.95

5. Sunday Dinner

Where/When: Uncle Jack's Steakhouse. All day Sunday.

Why Go: Aside from the succulent steaks, you'll love the fact that the kids' meals will be on the house!

Pricing: Food and drink prices vary.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
