It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

1. Female Friendly Fridays 

Where/When: . Friday night.

Why Go: Because all ladies' drinks are absolutely free, between the hours of 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.

Pricing: Drink prices vary before and after.

 

 2.

Where/When: 40-04 Bell Boulevard. On Friday or Saturday until midnight.

Why Go: If you haven't tried anything from the French and Thai menu, you are truly missing out. Try the Duck Rolls and Chilean Sea Bass your first time out.

Pricing: Food and drink prices vary.

 

3.

Where/When: 215-16 Northern Boulevard. On Friday or Saturday, until 11 p.m.

Why Go: If the exquisite seafood and delectable steaks aren't reason enough, how about the mouth-watering pasta dishes?

Pricing: Entrees range from $16 to $36.

 

4. Fino Wine & Tapas

Where/When: 39-13 Bell Boulevard. On Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, until 12:30 a.m.

Why Go: The great food, tapas, and more than 150 options for wine.

Pricing: Food and drink prices vary.

 

5. Tavern Happy Hour 

Where/When: Bentley's Off Bell, 213-41 39th Avenue. On Friday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Why Go: The specials include half priced appetizers and specials on beer. You can stay late or just altogether opt for one of the specialty drinks, like the Baytini, Spike Cola, or Double "o" Seven.

Pricing: Food and drink prices vary. Domestic beers are $3, while imported beers and micro-brews are $4 during Happy Hour.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
