Where/When: Alley Pond Park Adventure Center. On Saturday at 10 a.m.

3. Children's Carnival

Where/When: Queens County Farm Museum. On Saturday and Sunday, this weekend and next, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: Speaking from experience, this carnival is well worth the $11 per person charge. The rides are free with admission.

4. Fitness Hike (Vigorous)

Where/When: Cunningham Park, meet in the parking lot at Union Turnpike and 196th Street. On Sunda, at 11 a.m.

Why Go: This event takes the term put a little spring in your step to a whole new level.

5. Know Your Neighborhood: Whitestone

Where/When: Bayside Historical Society. On Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Author Jason Antos will enlighten you with historical facts about Whitestone.
