1. Art Show

Where/When: 3 Elements Healing Arts Center. On Friday from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Why Go: The art featured is that of Bayside resident Richard Miceli and will be accompanied by live poetry and acoustic music.

Pricing: Free

2. Halloween Pub Crawl

Where/When: Starting at Safari Beach Club. On Saturday, beginning at 3 p.m.

Why Go: This event will start at one bar, but will go through all the best in Bayside. Experience all of the drinking fun Bayside has to offer in one day at discounted rates!

Pricing: Drink prices vary. Register here.

3. Bayside Village Sidewalk Sale and Halloween Festival

Where/When: Bayside Long Island Railroad Station. On Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

Why Go: This family-friendly shopping event will feature plenty of discounts and Halloween themed activities for the kids.

Pricing: Free to attend.

4. Halloween Party with the Locksmiths

Where/When: The Attic Bar & Lounge. On Saturday, beginning at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Live music alla the Locksmiths and Hard80 will only enhance your chances to win the costume contest. Don't forget to be creative! 

Pricing: No cover. Drink specials apply.

5. 11th Annual TOTTEN-TROT

Where/When: Bayside Historical Society. On Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

Why Go: This 5k foot race will help raise funds for the Society's educational programs. You can attend as a spectator or participant.

Pricing: $30 to run.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
