 2. Thirsty Thursdays

Where/When: . On Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: Not only do you get great drink specials during Happy Hour (4 p.m. to 9 p.m.), you'll get Martini's for the incredible price of $5, the entire day. The kicker for Happy Hour is that all cocktails are $5, appetizers are half off, and beers are $3.

3. Holiday Party

Where/When: . On Thurdsday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. or 10 p.m. to closing.

Why Go: Because this party comes with a gift. Use the coupon provided at the link above, and you'll get a free entree (conditions apply).

Pricing: Food and drink prices vary.

 

4. Singles Night Soiree

Where/When: . On Saturday, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: This is the event to go to if you're looking to meet someone who is single, while having great food, set to music by DJ.

5. Sunday Brunch & NFL Sunday Ticket 

Where/When: . On Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m.

Why Go: You get the pleasure of an appetizing Sunday brunch, that you don't have to prepare yourself, and the joy that comes with watching all of the must-see games, without actually having to pay for that Sunday Ticket.

Pricing: Brunch is $14.95 to $16.95. Bar specials also apply during games.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
