Flash Flood Warning Issued for Queens

The National Weather Service warns that water-covered roadways can be more dangerous than they look.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Queens, Brooklyn and Nassau County.

The warning will remain in effect until 10:15 p.m. Sunday evening.

NWS warns residents to seek higher ground where flooding is observed, and not stay in areas where flood waters are rising.

They also warn drivers to never drive through parts of roadway covered in water, saying, “flood water are usually deeper than they appear,” and that just a foot of water is enough to sweep a car off the road.

They ask drivers to turn around to take an alternate route when facing a flooded roadway.
