Family Talk: Divorce

Should troubled couples with kids stick it out?

As I lay in bed watching one of my favorite celebrity reality shows, Braxton Family Values, I am shocked at the drama unfolding between two divorced parents and their adult children.

The scene ensuing between a couple, the parents of the Braxton bunch, is painful to watch; They were married for 35 years.

Being brought together by one of their adult children, the parents fight and hash out years of hurtful and detrimental behavior within their failed marriage.

From not providing financially to cheating, the divorced couple reveal all of that has gone wrong in their relationship, all sparked by the question of when did their friendship end, posed by one of their adult kids.

Seeing the reaction of the kids only shows how much divorce and parental strife really affects the kids involved, at any age. While some think of divorce as an experience that kids eventually get over, the adults in the show, through crying and digging for the truth, show that the pains of the event, 10 years prior, have not gone away.
