Douglaston-Little Neck Library Unveils July Programs

Slate Includes Crocheting for Children and Summer Reading

The Douglaston-Little Neck Public Library will offer everything from a crocheting club for children to computer classes as part of its July slate of programs.

The library, located at 249-01 Northern Blvd., will host its knitting and crocheting club on July 11, 18 and 25 at 4 p.m.

Instructor Helen Bodner will help both beginners and experts with knitting and crocheting projects. Attendees should bring their own needles and yarn.

A crochet club for children and teenagers will also be available at the library every Tuesday in July. The class, which will begin at 2:30 p.m., will teach students how to create a small pouch and an afghan, which will be donated to a local charity.

Preregistration is required, but the class is free.

On July 11 and 18, the library will hold computer basics classes, which will begin at 10 a.m.

The branch will offer a summer reading club for grades one through five on July 6, 20 and 27 at 2:30 p.m.

The free program will include story reading, crafts and contests. Preregistration is required.

Every Thursday, the library will host its Summer Twilight Tales event for ages 1 through 5 at 6:30 p.m.

Children will be able to listen to classic children’s stories and songs from around the world. Bedtime attire is optional, but preregistration for the program is required.

Youths will be able to design their own picture frames during the library’s Teen Time program, which will be held on July 15, 22 and 29 at 11 a.m.

Attendees will also be able to take part in quiz trivia, beading and designing their own bandana.
