Douglaston Little Neck Library to Offer Sign Language Class in February

Other programs for children include Mother Goose Time and Book Buddies.

The Douglaston Little Neck Library will offer a basic sign language course and several reoccurring programs in February.

Sign, Read and Play will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 6. During the event,  certified American Sign Language instructor Jacqueline Ciaramella will teach basic signing vocabulary by incorporating stories, songs, rhymes and activities.

The event, which is aimed at children up to age 3, is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The library, which is located at 249-01 Northern Blvd. in Douglaston, will also offer English Conversation Classes on Feb. 4, 11 and 25 at 1 p.m.

Knitting and Crocheting Club will take place at 3 p.m. on Feb. 4, 11 and 25.

The library’s Toddler Time program will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 7, 14 and 21. This class, which is designed for children between the ages of 2 and 3-½, includes listening to stories, singing songs and dancing.

Mother Goose Time will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Feb. 1, 8, 15 and 22. The program, which is aimed at children between the ages of 9 and 24 months, includes nursery rhymes, stories and learning about Mother Goose.

The library’s Book Buddies, which is meant for children in kindergarten through fourth grade, will take place at 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 1,8, 15 and 22. Attendees will be given an opportunity to read aloud during this class.
