Douglaston Little Neck Library to Offer Senior Citizen Health Program in March

The library will also hold a sign language course next month.

The Douglaston Little Neck Library will offer a sign language course and a program on health for seniors in March.

The library, located at 249-01 Northern Blvd. in Douglaston, will hold English conversation classes at 1 p.m. on March 4, 11, 18 and 25.

Its knitting and crocheting program will be held at 3 p.m. on March 4, 11, 18 and 25.

Toddler Time will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on March 7, 14, 21 and 28. This program is designed for children between the ages of 2 and 3-1/2 years. During the class, attendees will listen to stories, sing songs and dance.

Mother Goose Time will be held at 11:15 a.m. on March 1, 15, 22 an 29. This class, which is for children between the ages of 9 and 24 months, will include nursery rhymes and storytelling.

The library’s Book Buddies program will run on March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. This class, which is aimed at children in kindergarten through fourth grade, gives each attendee the opportunity to practice listening and reading aloud.

Special programs for March include Sign, Read and Play, which will take place at 1:30 p.m. on March 6. Jacqueline Ciaramella, a certified American Sign Language instructor, will teach basic signing vocabulary reinforced with stories, songs, rhymes and activities.

The class is for children up to age 3. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Anna’s Book Discussion will be held on March 13 at 11:30 a.m. M.L. Stedman’s “The Light Between Oceans” will be the book under discussion.

The library will offer a seminar for senior citizens on March 7 at 2 p.m. that will focus on fall prevention, nutrition and exercise.
